Backlog BioBlitz

For January 2021 we are asking you to look for wildlife records very close to home - in your notebooks, files and cameras! The Backlog BioBlitz is a fun challenge to release records trapped in your notes, specimen collections and photographs, which are often waiting for the proverbial "rainy day". A lockdown January is the ideal time to get to work on your backlog and add to the knowledge of wildlife populations in south east Wales. Get involved and enter our prize draw!

How to get involved

1. Look through your old notes, photos, specimens etc and create records from what you find (these must include what, where, when, who details).

2. Submit "historic" records (dated pre 2021) to SEWBReC during January via your preferred route*.

3. Everyone who submits 10 or more records will be entered into a prize draw for a £25 NHBS gift voucher.

4. The person who enters the most historic records will also win a £25 NHBS gift voucher.

*We will not be accepting paper records for this challenge due to the processing time involved for SEWBReC. Accepted recording routes include SEWBReCORD, iRecord, LERC Wales App, MapMate & emailed Excel spreadsheets.
