Species of the Month: July 2015

Golden Ringed Dragonfly: Cordulegaster boltonii

July is the perfect time of year to see this magnificent dragonfly, a creature of high summer. Aptly named, this unmistakeable species is striped by golden rings, and has striking green eyes. Although not a garden species for the majority of us, this species is well worth seeking out - maybe at one of the biodiversity wildlife events listed in our online events calendar. More information about Golden Ringed Dragonfly is available from the British Dragonfly Society website.

If you spot a Golden-Ringed Dragonfly during July (or see the species at any other time of year), please send us the record, ideally via our Species of the Month form on SEWBReCORD (nb. you will need to be signed into SEWBReCORD to use this link). Instructions on how to submit records are available here.
