SEWBReC Glamorgan Biodiversity Blitz Day 2009, Nant Fawr Corridor

This event was held on Sunday 31st May 2009, with moth trapping taking place on the evening of 30th May, and was organised in conjunction with Cardiff County Council.

Comprising of a diverse selection of public open spaces wthin the urban environs of Cardiff City, Nant Fawr Corridor (ST187813) offers a range of habitats to survey, including woodland, meadow and a variety of aquatic environments. The site is used as a wildlife corridor, linking Roath Park and other urban green spaces to the wider countryside beyond. The adjacent Llanishen and Lisvane Reservoirs are both important sites for birds, and have recently been designated as a SSSI due to the grassland fungi found on the reservoir embankments.  Nant Fawr is a popular recreation area for local residents and is supported by an enthusiastic “Friends of” group.

Thanks to all who joined our efforts to add value to this under-recorded site by coming along on the day and helping to identify the range of species which utilise it. Further information on the species recorded during this event will be available shortly.
